Winter 2022

Winter has finally arrived.  The greenhouse is resting this winter, waiting until March to turn on the heat.  In our propagation area, we have started the begonias, freesia and lisianthus, with more plants scheduled to start every week.

Our online store has been updated for 2022.  A few of less popular varieties have been dropped, while several new choices have been added.  The added tags should help, as it will be easy to search for new this year, attracts butterflies, organic seed, cut flowers, and many others.  Have a look.

Please let us know if there is something else you would like us to start, or if you would like a larger quantity of a variety.  There is still time.

Spring will be here soon.  Many thanks for your continued support.

New Year 2021

A new year, a new outlook, and another growing season on the way. Winter has finally arrived, with new snow almost every day. It is a quiet time of year in the greenhouse as we give it a rest and wait for a little more warmth and sunshine. We have a little lettuce growing along with some peas. The freesia is growing nicely, and the tulips are all resting in the cooler. We have most of our seeds and supplies on hand for the spring, although there are many backorders and out of stock items from our vendors. Our online catalog has been updated with many new offerings based on your suggestions. We have also added some new content to our website. It is time for us to get some of the cool flowers and other plants started for spring. To a healthy and productive growing season for all.

Mid May 2020

The snow should be finished at last.  Keeping the lingering possibility of frost in mind, it is time to start getting the soil ready and putting cold tolerant plants in the ground.

We have had a strong response to our online store.  Thank you!  We greatly appreciate your interest and your business.  Our online inventory is updated regularly and includes new items as they are ready.  We currently have an abundance of geraniums and potted lisianthus, as well as an extensive inventory of flower, herb, and vegetable starts, all ready to help get your garden off to a rapid start.  Check our online store, or come have a look.

Our greenhouse will be opening for the season Saturday 16 May.  Our hours are 9-5 daily, closed Monday and Tuesday.  We will be adhering to the VT COVID protocol, and an advance notice of your visit would be very helpful for our compliance.  (You can call 802-748-2001 or email info@snapflowerfarm.com.)

Happy planting, and we hope to see you soon.

Easter 2020

Nice Easter tulips
Tulips were a successful producer for Easter. As we could not sell any due to the "Stay Home" order, they were donated to our neighbors. For next year, we will be planting more in pots. The freesia was also a success, and we will have more potted up for next year. During the last month, we have been very busy planting and potting up. It is interesting that most of our seed vendors have sold out of the common items and have stopped taking new orders until May. Our online store is now functioning for flower, herb, and vegetable purchases. Starting 01 May, we will be offering greenhouse-side pick-up of your order. Please look at our selection of plant starts and get your order in early as supplies are limited.

Mid-February 2020

Amarylis bowl

There is finally a decent snow pack, and the days are getting longer.  The greenhouse is producing lettuce slowly, along with broccoli and peas.  The freesia should be blooming in another few weeks.  Inside, the amarylis is amazing, and the early trial tulips bloomed in no time.  Perhaps we will have tulips ready for Valentines day next year.  The  early seedlings are progressing well, including rosemary, lavender, and geraniums, along with onions, shallots, and cellery.  The lisianthus germination was suprisingly well.  We should have six varieties in 6″ pots later in the season.  Tomatoes and sweet peas for the greenhouse are also off to a great start.  We continue to seed flowers every week, and will be starting vegetables soon.
